The most specialized form of photography is underwater water. Very special skills are needed to capture underwater moments. Unlike many other mediums underwater subjects need to be viewed up close. Trying to get shots of marine life can be tough because it is often hiding rather than being out in the open. When looking to get shots of marine life you have to use caution because you don't want to scare the subject. You have to respect marine life and the underwater environment. Do not touch living organisms and you must also learn to move in the direction of the current while trying to capture your subject

A word of warning, trying to touch marine life will cause it to die so a set of rules must be followed.

Using a strobe light will assist you with getting the light that you need in order to take the perfect images. Having a flash with an underwater camera is very important. The flash will help you pull in other colors and make for a more attractive image. You don't need a big strobe to get the job done underwater. Avoid getting a big strobe because it can hurt you more than help you.

Having good composition is important as well. You want to use the upward angle as if you were taking a shot in a museum. When trying to get a shot of marine life, you have to deal with them hiding and blending with their environments. It makes it tough to get a clear straightforward shot. Using an angle is best for marine life shots.
